Wheat Belly Update

Wheat Belly.

I still have it.

I'm kind of sucking at avoiding wheat altogether but I've definitely cut back a lot.

That's progress, right?

The thing is, when I don't consume wheat I feel better.  If I go days without it, then eat something with wheat, I feel like crap.  For reals, Y'all.  I get all nauseous and my stomach hurts and I get a headache and feel all tired and crappy.  Blech.  So, obviously it's not good for my body.  Honestly, I don't even really crave the stuff at this point, which is pretty cool.  The uncool part, I'm still eating it sometimes either out of habit or because it seems to be in almost everything!

I have been collecting Paleo recipes now I just need to start making some.  I have several that sound really great!  I often cook Paleo without even thinking about it.  It's the sweets and baked goods that I'm missing.  I also need to make sure Scott doesn't realize the stuff I bake is healthy, otherwise he won't touch it.  I know Landon will like whatever I make.  He's always happy to get to try something new!

New goals:

1. Make some baked goods, Paleo style.

2. Convince the husband the healthy baked goods are FULL of processed sugar, flour and all kinds of nasty stuff so he will eat and love them.

3. Consume more real food and less processed stuff.  I do it for Landon so I should do it for myself as well.

I want to hear from you!  Have you or anyone you know gone Paleo or wheat free?  Do you have any favorite recipes or tips for me?

  1. I have! DUH!!! I'm sure you know. I recommend Pamela's products- all kinds of good wheat free stuff (although it's expensive). I feel your pain about wheat being in about everything! I have to ask about anything at a restaurant unless they have a gluten-free menu. & I learned real quick it's in almost every pre-packaged foods; sometimes the generic brands don't have it. I don't make much from scratch, but there's a website http://glutenfreemommy.com/
    Good luck!
